How I Plan My Week as a WFH Homeschool Mom

How I Plan My Week as a WFH Homeschool Mom

The Step-by-Step Sanity Map

Planning a week while balancing a career and a preschooler isn't about perfection—it's about reducing the number of decisions you have to make on Monday morning. Here is how I map out my week in under 20 minutes.

Step 1: The "Hard Stop" Audit

Open your work calendar and your family calendar. Look for the "Non-Negotiables."

  • For Work: Mark every client call, team meeting, or deadline.

  • For Kids: Mark mealtimes, naps, and any scheduled classes.

  • The Goal: Identify your "Deep Work Zones" (when the kids are busy or sleeping) and your "Interrupted Zones" (when you know you’ll be on duty).

Step 2: Match the Energy

This is the secret sauce. Don't just plan what you are doing; plan the energy of the room.

  • High-Focus Work: If you have a 10:00 AM call, match it with a High-Engagement Activity from the Toolkit (like a sensory bin or a new coloring prompt).

  • Low-Focus Work: If you’re just clearing emails, that’s a great time for "Parallel Play" where your child plays nearby while you work.

Step 3: The "Prep-Ahead" Five

You don't need to prep the whole week, just the first five things for Monday morning.

  1. Choose the first activity.

  2. Set out the supplies.

  3. Print the daily schedule.

  4. Set the "Stop Light" to green.

  5. Prep one "emergency" snack.

Step 4: The Visual Hand-Off

The Sanity Map only works if the whole family can see it. Post your Daily Schedule PDF on the fridge or at eye-level for your child. Even if they can't read yet, they will begin to recognize the rhythm of the day, which drastically reduces "Mommy, what are we doing now?" interruptions.

The Final Touch

The Sunday Night Sanity Map isn't a rigid contract; it’s a safety net. When the toddler refuses to nap or a meeting runs long, you don’t have to panic—you just look at the map and see where you can pivot.

Stop starting from scratch every Monday. I’ve designed the Work+Homeschool Toolkit Bundle to give you the exact templates and activity menus I use in my own Sanity Map. [Shop the 5-PDF Toolkit Bundle Here]
